Guardian Services of Northwest Michigan is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to assisting individuals who cannot care for themselves. Governed by a board of directors, the organization is no longer an LLC and carries a $200,000 bond and $100,000 in insurance. We are actively hiring additional case managers and pursuing fundraising efforts to support individuals unable to pay for services.
We provide guardianship, conservatorship, and representative payee services through the Social Security Administration and serve as a VA fiduciary for veterans, including conducting forensic accounting. We also offer training and support for individuals interested in serving as guardians or conservators, particularly with court paperwork.
As members of the National Guardianship Association and the Michigan Guardianship Association, we remain informed on best practices and upcoming legislation, including guardian licensing requirements. Board member Lee Storch contributes to advancing guardianship resources in Northern Michigan.
Our board is excited about upcoming initiatives, including educating hospitals and Community Mental Health organizations on guardianship processes to improve care for individuals.
